Silver Eagle Distributors Continues Tradition as “Pot of Gold” Sponsor for 36th Annual F.M. 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Treasured Community Event Expected to Draw Thousands of Houstonians with Music and Fun!

HOUSTON, TEXAS (March 7, 2014) – The 1960 Parade Committee is pleased to announce local Anheuser-Busch distributor, Silver Eagle Distributors, as the “Pot of Gold” sponsor for its 36th annual F.M. 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in northwest Houston. This will be Silver Eagle’s eighth year sponsoring the event.

The 36th annual F.M. 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, March 16 at 2 p.m. and is expected to draw more than 80,000 spectators and local residents. Ornately-decorated floats, spectators and float participants decked out in festive green attire, as well as local on-air personalities Dean and Rog from 106.9 and 107.5 The Eagle serving as the official Grand Marshalls, will be just some of the many highlights attendees can expect at this year’s event. Proceeds from the parade and its 5K Fun Run and Walk will benefit the CCEMS Scholarship Fund, a special program which provides financial support for individuals completing their EMT training as well as training to join the Bike Medic Response Team. The 1960 Parade Committee has proudly raised more than $100,000 for this important program over the past five years.

“Silver Eagle Distributors is proud to once again serve as the Pot of Gold sponsor in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration,” said Silver Eagle Distributors president and CEO, John L. Nau III. “We applaud the 1960 Parade Committee for its commitment to education, community involvement, and for its ability year after year to bring Houstonians everywhere together for a fun and festive occasion!”

As a staunch supporter of alcohol responsibility programs, Silver Eagle also encourages parade attendees to not rely on the luck of the Irish to get home safely. Rather, they ask all those celebrating the holiday to do so responsibly by adding a designated driver to their plans for a fun and safe holiday weekend.

Road barriers will begin blocking traffic north of F.M. 1960 beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 16. Intersections at either end of the parade route – Champion Forest Drive and Kuykendahl Road – will remain open, but officers and signs will direct traffic away from the closed sections of F.M. 1960. Parking also will be available at various businesses along F.M. 1960. At 1:45 p.m., thousands of runners and walkers from all skill levels will head out from the Sun & Ski Sports (located at the corner of FM1960 and Champions Forest) as they participate in the event’s 5K Fun Run and Walk.

At 2 p.m., the parade will take-off at the Wells Fargo parking lot at Champions Forest Drive, and will continue along F.M. 1960 towards The Concert Pub – North at Kuykendahl. Awards will be given at Mak’s Place on Louetta following the conclusion of the parade to the top three youth and adult floats, as judged based on originality, creativity, appearance, craftsmanship, crowd appeal and spirit. Individual and corporate entries also will have a chance to win the coveted title of “Spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.”
