HOUSTON, TEXAS (March 12, 2013) – The 1960 Parade Committee is pleased to announce local Anheuser-Busch distributor, Silver Eagle Distributors, as the “Pot of Gold” sponsor for the 35th annual F.M. 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in northwest Houston. This will be Silver Eagle’s seventh year sponsoring the event. The 35th annual F.M. 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. and is expected to draw more than 60,000 spectators and local residents. Ornately-decorated floats, an official festival leprechaun, and local musical favorite Mark Jones and Twenty Paces serving as the official Grand Marshall, will be some of the many highlights attendees can expect at the event. Proceeds from the parade and its 5K Fun Run and Walk will benefit Cypress Creek EMS Education Scholarships, a special program which provides financial support for individuals completing their EMT training as well as training to join the Bike Medic Response Team. Over the past five years, the parade committee has raised more than $100,000. “Silver Eagle prides itself on staying deeply rooted in the communities we serve, and it is an honor for us to once again be a part of this wonderful event,” said Silver Eagle Distributors president and CEO, John L. Nau III. “What better way to celebrate a fun holiday than with a community event that brings the entire city together in celebration!” As a staunch supporter of alcohol responsibility programs, Silver Eagle also encourages parade attendees to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day responsibly by adding a designated driver to their plans for a fun and safe holiday weekend. Road barriers will begin blocking traffic beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 with parking available at various businesses along F.M. 1960. At 1:15 p.m., more than 1,00 runners and walkers of all skill levels will participate in the event’s 5K Fun Run and Walk. At 2 p.m., the parade will launch at the Wells Fargo parking lot at Champions Forest Drive and will continue along F.M. 1960 towards The Concert Pub – North at Kuykendahl. Awards will be given at the conclusion of the parade to the top three youth and adult floats, as judged based on originality, creativity, appearance, craftsmanship, crowd appeal and spirit. Additional awards will also be presented to the corporate and individual floats deemed to best embody the “Spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.” Now in its 35th year, the annual F.M. 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade is presented by “Pot of Gold” sponsor Silver Eagle Distributors, along with “Platinum” sponsors Koronis Revenue Solutions and Waster Connections of Texas, as well as “Gold” sponsors University of Houston Northwest Campus, Aries Freight Systems and H-E-B.
