SAN ANTONIO (April 13, 2016) – Fiesta San Antonio partners are encouraging San Antonians to celebrate the 125th Fiesta® responsibly by planning ahead for a safe ride home. For the eighth year in a row, the Fiesta Safe Rides® program will be offered to festival-goers thanks to a partnership with Silver Eagle Distributors and Bud Light, the Valero Energy Foundation, the Fiesta® San Antonio Foundation, Yellow Cab and, for the first time this year, Uber. The 2016 Fiesta Safe Rides® program was announced today at a news conference with the Texas Department of Transportation, San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Sheriff and District Attorney’s offices and VIA.
This year’s Fiesta Safe Rides® program will provide more than 3,200* Fiesta-goers with safe ride home options through the following initiatives:
- $10 Yellow Cab pre-paid taxi cards will be available at The Fiesta Store at 2611 Broadway, Yellow Cab Offices, and some Fiesta events;
- A special Uber user code will be posted on the Fiesta San Antonio Commission’s website (fiesta-sa.org). Festival-goers can use the code to receive a $10 discount on Uber rides from 8pm to 2am within a quarter-mile of Fiesta events serving alcohol; and
- For festival attendees who are new to Uber, a $20 new user discount will also be available for use on any ride requested during Fiesta.
“The Fiesta Safe Rides® program provides San Antonians with a great opportunity to plan ahead,” explains John L. Nau, III, President and CEO of Silver Eagle Distributors. “We are proud to sponsor this important initiative for the eighth consecutive year and encourage all festival-goers to celebrate this exciting time of year responsibly.”
