Silver Eagle Distributors Partners with FM 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade for the 9th Year as “Pot of Gold” Sponsor

Treasured Community Event Expected to Draw Thousands of Houstonians and Local Visitors

HOUSTON, TX (March 4, 2015) – Silver Eagle Distributors, the nation’s largest distributor of Anheuser-Busch products, is returning for its 9th year as the “Pot of Gold” sponsor for one of northwest Houston’s most beloved events: the 37th annual FM 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. More than 80,000 spectators and St. Patrick’s Day revelers are expected to be in attendance at this year’s event.

The 37th annual FM 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, March 15 at 2 p.m. New to this year’s event will be an elaborate vendor area, located in the Home Depot parking lot at 4159 FM 1960 West, featuring a wide mix of concessions and local goods for parade attendees. Additional highlights to be on the lookout for during the 2015 parade includes seeing this year’s parade grand marshals: Roula Christie, from 104.1 KRBE’s The Roula & Ryan Show, and fellow on-air personality Special K.

In addition to viewing a festive mix of ornately decorated floats, visitors and locals alike also are encouraged to participate in the event’s Shamrock ‘N Run 5K fun run and walk. Thanks to a new design and reconfiguration of the race course, this year’s attendees will now be able to run and walk on a more user-friendly course that allows finishers to exit the race area without being restricted to one area due to road closures. Nearly 500 participants are expected at this year’s race. Proceeds from both the parade and the fun run and walk will benefit the Cypress Creek EMS (CCEMS) Scholarship Fund, a special program that provides financial support for individuals completing their EMT training as well as training to join the Bike Medic Response Team. Over the past five years, the FM 1960 Parade Committee has proudly raised more than $100,000 for these important programs.

“The FM 1960 St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a great annual event that brings our communities together to celebrate and give back to an important cause,” explains John L. Nau III, president and CEO, Silver Eagle Distributors. “As a company, Silver Eagle is proud to be serving as the Pot of Gold sponsor for the ninth year and looks forward to another fun and festive event.”

As a staunch supporter of alcohol responsibility programs, Silver Eagle also encourages parade attendees to not rely on the luck of the Irish to get home safely. Rather, they encourage all those celebrating the holiday to do so responsibly by adding a designated driver to their plans for a fun and safe holiday.

Road barriers will begin blocking traffic north of FM 1960 beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 15. Intersections at either end of the parade route – Champion Forest Drive and Kuykendahl Road – will remain open, but officers and signs will direct traffic away from the closed sections of FM 1960.

At 2 p.m., the parade will begin at the Wells Fargo parking lot at Champions Forest Drive, and will continue along FM 1960 before finishing at the intersection of Kuykendahl and FM 1960. Following the conclusion of the parade, an awards ceremony will take place at Mak’s Place on Louetta Rd. Awards will be given for the top three youth and adult floats, as judged based on originality, creativity, appearance, craftsmanship, crowd appeal and spirit. Individual and corporate entries also will have a chance to win the coveted title of “Spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.”
