ABOUT BIG LEAGUE WEEKEND

2015 will be the third year for H-E-B Big League Weekend, a two-game Major League Baseball exhibition at the iconic Alamodome. The games take place on Friday, March 20 (7PM) and Saturday, March 21 (1PM).  The event is a partnership between Ryan Sanders Baseball and the City of San Antonio.  Over 125,000 fans have packed the Alamodome in the event’s first two years:

2013 – Texas Rangers vs. San Diego Padres

2014 – Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros

Turning the Alamodome into a baseball facility is no easy task. Ryan Sanders Baseball collaborated with AstroTurf to build a 133,000 square-foot custom field for the Alamodome floor. In addition to the turf, 300 cubic yards of dirt is brought in each year for the base around the infield. Custom dugouts, bullpens, netting and walls are also installed.

The participants for 2015 H-E-B Big League Weekend will be announced following the Major League Baseball post-season.
